I believe this reflects issues of diversity in America because Spencer's defense is rooted in the fact that violence is an inherent "cost of free assembly" which the American government and society must accept. Violence, even including the death of counterprotesters, should not be cause for a legal case against Spencer. The fact that violence is supposedly a necessary evil of protests, race discussion, and political diversity is an extremely important idea to face when discussing past and present diversity conflicts in America.
